Dear Friends:
I write to announce the publication of Early China 21 (1996), and the simultaneous publication of a new Society for the Study of Early China Monograph: New Sources of Early Chinese History: An Introduction to the Reading of Inscriptions and Manuscripts, edited by Edward L. Shaughnessy. You will find a list of the main contents of Early China 21 and New Sources of Early Chinese History accompanying this letter, along with an order form. Please note that New Sources of Early Chinese History is being offered at the special price of $25 when ordered together with Early China 21. Also, you may now charge your Early China subscription using Visa or Mastercard. I hope this will make it more convenient for some of you (especially members outside the U.S.) to order Early China.
Sincerely,
In other news of the Society for the Study of Early China, there is now an Early China website maintained by David Pankenier, editor of Early China News. The address is:
http://humanities.uchicago.edu/easian/earlychina.
The website is a valuable addition to scholarly communication in the early China field. I encourage you to visit the site and offer suggestions for the kinds of information that you would like to see posted. I look forward to seeing many of you next spring at the meeting of the Society in conjunction with the National Meeting of the Association for Asian Studies in Washington, DC, March 26-29. I will send another letter in February informing you of the time and place of the Society meeting, and the expected publication date of Early China 22.
