The Korean Language Program at the University of Chicago provides
4 years of language courses in order to meet the diverse needs
of undergraduate and graduate students alike. Courses ranging
from beginning to advanced levels are designed to develop or
improve students' competence in the four language modalities
of speaking, reading, writing, and listening. In order to achieve
this goal, the program utilizes various original teaching devices
such as authentic audio-visual materials, Chalk (web-based supplementary
material), and video scripts. The program also provides a solid
foundation for understanding and appreciating the rich culture
of Korea through a number of cultural activities. Students are
encouraged to participate in Hangul Day and Kimbab Day in Autumn
quarter, Sel-nal Dduck-kuk Day in Winter quarter, and a Kalbi
BBQ picnic in Spring quarter.
