Biography
I am interested in the relationship between artistic representation and labor in twentieth-century China, and the historical constraints and possibilities therein. I've explored this topic through industrial workers’ yeyu cultural production in the late 1950s. I'm also interested in studying the epistemic transformation of documentary realism in the 1970s and 1980s through the lens of internationalist filmmakers in China.
